Best College Majors for ADHD

Like everyone else, ADHD students may be interested in any number of areas. To succeed, ADHD students should pick majors they enjoy, and that suit their talents. Many ADHD students find that art majors suit them; others choose teaching, PR, physical education, and even accounting.

Colleges and Universities with Student Support for Students with ADHD

In today’s world, almost every college and university offers some form of support for students with ADHD. By law, ADHD students are entitled to academic accommodations in the USA and in most western countries.

FAQ

Is ADHD a disability in college?

ADHD is a disorder and officially considered a disability. As such college students with ADHD are entitled to academic accommodations afforded to all students with disabilities. With academic accommodations, medication, therapy, and a good support system, ADHD students can thrive in college.

How do college students study with ADHD?

Before the academic school year begins ADHD college students need to get their documentation organized so that they are eligible for academic accommodations in college. ADHD students (and other students with disabilities) are given special accommodations to level the playing field with other students. For example, ADHD college students may be given more time on tests, extended time to submit assignments, shorter assignments, practical rather than theoretical assignments, and oral testing. College students with ADHD manage to study with the help of these accommodations, therapy, medication, and a support system of parents, teachers, therapists, and friends.

Can students with ADHD succeed in college?

Yes! If ADHD students use all the tools, accommodations, support and strategies available to them they can succeed in college.
