Guidelines for clinical diagnosis of ADHD exist for those 4 years of age and older.
Some signs of ADHD can be spotted in babies and young toddlers but the official diagnosis is usually made after 4 years old.
Some children are diagnosed as young as 2 years old. Parents asking themselves “what are the signs my baby has ADHD?” can find answers in our section on “Signs and Symptoms of ADHD in Preschoolers and Babies.”
To be diagnosed with ADHD a toddler must display at least 6 of the ADHD symptoms listed in the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.
