Females with ADHD often go undiagnosed for many years as their symptoms are less obvious than those seen in males. Girls are more likely to have the inattentive type of ADHD rather than the hyperactive/impulsive type more common in boys.
With new awareness of the many ways in which ADHD symptoms can show themselves, more and more females are now getting tested for ADHD.
